Mistletoe / Kate Stransky

Tuesday, December 6th, 2016

Kate Stransky, stop-motion artist in collaboration with The Mill, brings us enchanting shadow play shorts with these two videos for Glade. Simple, yet a highly imaginative approach to animation, where the shadows take life from the flickering light of one candle, adding a ethereal and dancer-like motion. If you have a new flame this holiday, this may be worth a share. Make sure to read on for the second clip.

The Magic of Craft / Lip Comarella, Simon Griesser

Tuesday, November 29th, 2016

Travel to the snowy German mountains on a journey through Montblanc’s secret craft workshop. With a focus on attention to detail, this short masterfully mirrors the products it represents. Romão takes us through a realm of magical environments and endearing character design in this carefully constructed short-form narrative. Make sure to check out the behind the scenes video!

Clipper Tea / Andersen M

Tuesday, November 8th, 2016

Meticulously designed, yet whimsy and metaphorical, Andersen M delivers a masterful piece of animation. We can’t help but be enamored by the playful interaction of a bee with his natural environment as it buzzes through the forest, transforming the landscape and characters around it to their natural state of being. It must be in search of a good cup of green tea!

Nickelodeon Kid / Tucker Barrie

Monday, August 29th, 2016

A tribute and testament to 25 years worth of animation from Nickelodeon, this piece is engaging, playful and smart. The short is animated and narrated by the talented Tucker Barrie, a self-proclaimed “Nickelodeon Kid”. Not only does Barrie know how to animate like a boss, but apparently also is proficient with scissors and Xacto knives. He creates detailed, yet pleasingly minimal, morphing environments for the iconic characters to explore. Undeterred by overly saturated nature of the channel’s content, the intuition to keep the majority of the piece white with dashes of color adds a level of precious intimacy.

Geo Angst / Sean Pecknold

Sunday, June 12th, 2016

Sean Pecknold, back at it again with another highly stylized animation short. This one is a nice array of photographic elements, illustrations, typography and even a few paper cutouts. The diverse materials create a harmonious juxtaposition from scene to scene, and content gives us a nice roadmap to the wrap our brains around the concepts within.
