Director / Animator Min-Young Oh breathes new life into ancient storytelling with her beautifully staged short, “The Gravedigger’s Tale.” It has been selected by both the Edinburgh and Guanajuato International Film Festivals. Read on for comments from this sensitive soul and up-and-coming filmmaker.

From Director Min-Young Oh:

The idea behind The Gravedigger’s Tale was to create a new and very personal take on the fairy tale genre. One that would be both emotional and thought provoking, and also, I hope, entertaining to a modern audience. I decided to use puppets because they are able to convey the characters’ emotions, which are so important to the story. I also feel that the use of stop motion and puppetry connects us with a more traditional style of storytelling and helps create the fable-like atmosphere. I wanted this film to be timeless- a delicate and thought provoking meditation on themes that affect us all, wherever we live or whatever our personal situations. I am deeply honored that “The Gravedigger’s Tale” has been selected by several Oscar qualified film festivals. I aimed to make a film that would speak to as many people as possible.

Thank you, Min-Young. We are sure the film will live on! -Dragonframe
