This look into the studio of artist and animator Hayley Morris is part of British Director Tomas Leach’s intriguing documentary series ‘Little Scraps of Paper’. The films are explorations of varied artists’ individual spaces and the initial steps they take in order to create their work and document their ideas. The series includes writers, designers, illustrators, chefs and musicians.
Above, Hayley has kindly released some precious ‘scraps’ from her own sketchbook and work.

Series Director Tomas Leach speaks with Dragonframe:

“[Stop motion] is part of a larger resurgence of handmade things. Everything is generally so accessible and attainable, that people are striving for more unique, personal things that can’t be mass produced or easily copied.”

On his observation into Hayley’s approach:

“Hayley is an extremely talented artist. What I particularly love about her is that she does this because she has a complete love for the process—for discovering and exploring new ideas and turning them into images and stories.”

-Thanks, Tomas.
Be sure to check out the other great films in his series.
