Jocular, sweetly disjointed characters and well tuned dramatic crescendo in this graduation film by Soline Fauconnier, hailing from L’École de la Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie d’Angoulême. “3+1” is ominous yet fun, kind of like the Twilight Zone with sprinkles on top. It will be hard to be patient as we await her next endearingly peculiar house party… guess we’ll have to just ‘suck it up.’

Uncle Grandpa – Total Reality by Max Winston

More high throttle hijinx from the warped wizardry of Max Winston. Amazing lighting as Uncle Grandpa goes to Wonderland and things get weird even for him. Winston’s sweetly sick puppets are almost more engaging than real people, making them all the more disturbing. For more gorgeously rude ruminations on the meaning of existence, or lack thereof, watch his legendary crash course classic of expertly and experimentally animated crudeness, “I live in the Woods!”, which almost became a series of its own.
