North by Josh Shaffner

2015-11-03

A nice pared down atmospheric piece by Josh Shaffner, a music video for the song “North” by ‘fō. Light strobing with understated melancholic probing. The haunted geometric echoes of meaning are well suited to the song as is the slightly mechanical timepiece pacing. Although subtle, this short is rich in detail and ultimately organically flowing animation. Read on to see another nice piece by Shaffner, “The Rehabilitation of Sleep.” It reads like what might have happened if Hieronymus Bosch had had Dragonframe: a very graceful overachievement by an obvious over thinker.
