Live View

The Canon PowerShot SX110 IS provides a live view via its USB connection. The live view size is 320 x 240.

The Canon PowerShot SX110 IS also provides a live view via analog video output. The resolution depends on the output type (NTSC/PAL) and the aspect ratio (NORMAL/WIDE). You will need an analog to digital converter if you want to use this video source with your computer.

Setup Instructions

  1. PowerShot support must first be enabled in the program:
    • Open the Preferences in Dragonframe.
    • Go to the Capture tab.
    • Check the "Enable the Canon PowerShot camera module." checkbox.
  2. For Canon PowerShots only, in Windows Vista and newer, you must also run Dragonframe in Windows XP Compatibility mode:
    • In the file Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\DZED\Dragonframe
    • Right click on Dragonframe.exe and select Properties...
    • Click on the Compatibility tab.
    • In the Compatibility mode area, select Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
  3. Connect your camera to the computer with an appropriate USB cable.
  4. Power your camera by AC power if possible.
    • If you do use a battery, make sure it is fully charged.
    • If you use AC power, remove the battery.
  5. Close any other applications that might connect to your camera.
    • For Mac OS X, Open Image Capture, select your camera, then in pop up area in lower-left select Connection camera opens: No application. (See Picture)
  6. Make sure Dropbox is not a client of the camera.
  7. If you have anti-virus software, white-list Dragonframe so that it may access your camera.
  8. Set the Mode Dial to Manual (M).
